Something New Is Taking Shape in Durham Region
Strong communities are full of people, organizations, businesses, programs, events and opportunities. The challenge is that much of what makes a community valuable can be surprisingly difficult to find.
Information is often scattered across websites, social media pages, newsletters, bulletin boards and word of mouth. Residents may not know what is available nearby. Local organizations and businesses can struggle to reach the people they serve. Valuable opportunities can remain hidden—not because they lack importance, but because they lack visibility.
Golden Heart Ventures is working on a new digital initiative designed to help address that challenge.
Beginning in Durham Region, we are exploring a simpler way for people to discover what is happening and available within their local communities. The initiative is being designed to support the visibility of local businesses, community organizations, events, programs, services, volunteer opportunities and other community resources.
This work reflects the mission of Golden Heart Ventures:
Building and scaling ventures that strengthen local community participation.
Our approach is deliberately local at the beginning. Durham Region will provide the canvas to build, test and improve the concept within real communities before considering broader expansion across Ontario and beyond.
There is still considerable work ahead. We are developing the initial platform, refining its structure and determining what must be included in a useful and sustainable first version. We are also being careful not to introduce unnecessary complexity before the core experience has been proven and we are also being considerably stealthy as we proceed.
We look forward to sharing more as the initiative takes shape.
Local by impact. Scalable by design.
